What Causes Flat Feet Pain

Do you have pain in your feet? Do you know what is causing it? Have you heard of flat feet pain complications? Maybe you’ve heard the phrase ‘flat feet’ and know that you have this problem, but are unsure how to tell what exactly is causing the pain you are experiencing. Symptoms include tired, achy, swollen and painful feet. They can also include back and leg pain. It is possible that your discomfort or pain is being caused by flat feet, but why? Following are a few of the biggest causes of flat feet pain.
Heredity
Some people who have flat feet were born with the condition. While all infants’ feet appear flat at first, the internal bone structure is either normal or it isn’t. As children grow, they generally will develop arches in their feet. In the case that this does not happen correctly, flat feet occur. Flat feet also have a strong genetic connection, and if you have relatives with flat feet you are more likely to have the same condition.
Being Overweight
Flat feet pain can also be caused by excess weight. This is due to the arches in your foot falling and the tendons in your foot collapsing, and happens over time. Additionally, flat feet can contribute to greater obesity due to the pain that is caused by activity. While feet are always under a lot of pressure, any additional weight only adds to the wear and tear and breakdown of the arches, and can cause or intensify flat feet problems.
Injuries
Injuries to certain areas of your foot or ankle can also cause flat feet. This includes damage to the posterior tibial tendon (PTT), which runs from the calf behind the ankle and attaches to the middle of the foot. Injuries that cause flat feet also include torn tendons, and broken or dislocated bones. If you have had any injuries to your feet, they could be contributing to a flat feet condition and causing the associated pain and discomfort.
Age and Wear and Tear
Age can be a factor in developing flat feet as well. Since most of us spend a lot of time on our feet, it only makes sense that over the years this can cause things to get out of place in the ankle or foot and lead to flat feet. If there are issues with the foot, they can get worse with repeated stress compounded by time.
